I am perplexed why you blame the parents? Have you ever read the statistics on family violence, and the age? How many adults are abused by spouse, and in law, or by medical?
How many children are made live in a house with abusive family situation? How many children are made have a party before a child abuse, and neglect cases?
I have worked with several people that when people suggest or lie about being responsible for injuries they lose everything to me! No court for the innocent, no court needed for the losses by the family who had the evidence!

Most people understand that psychiatry is different than Neuro physiology? A person who is brilliant at most or not must acknowledge that psychiatry is not as exact as neurological disorders and disease! Why psychiatry with neurological problems, because the patient has been diagnosed with brain health issues! A patient who has been diagnosed as having neurological problems, has a lifetime of chronic disease that takes a toll upon the patient! When violence occurs or other causes occur for the patient neurological diseases, a patient must endure ignorant people who suffer from lust of greed!
I have 6 level one trauma centers. I have neurophysiological professionals and 6 other doctors backing up my brain specialist. If one trauma center is not able in minutes they call ahead.
Neuromuscular specialists are the brains 🧠 best friends! They get me through crises times when I have to be turned on an air mattress, and lung muscles supported! Then I have reversed strokes by antidotes in ER’s! I have diagnosed three types of seizures and aphasia speaking!
Don’t take a sissy have neurological diseases, but it doesn’t take a fool to know it takes a big team to keep a person alive.
Psych is used to get us ready for the fight that we have to go through and retrain us in Daily. Cognitive therapies how to speak how to swallow, and how to deal with people who lie that don’t become our murderers later!
I think you might be misinterpreting the lesson. Laing was a real practitioner who really was controversial for his time, but really did force the field into critical self reflection. His analysis is being invoked because it also works as a metaphorical (although you could say it's also literal) explanation for how groupthink plays out in society and demonizes dissenting positions, whether they have a rational basis or not.
Learnt something new here. I may have experienced this. Ostricised because of a difference of seeing the problem is the most ironic thing in psychology, then again, plenty of events concludes this to be a fact.
I don't know if its appropriate to recommend something in the comments section (apologies if it isn't), but the British author Will Self wrote an amazing fiction trilogy from the point if view of Liang, as well as fictional patients of his. It's fiction inspired loosely by his work and practices, but its a bloody amazing window into his insights. I don't remember the order, but they are called 'Shark', 'Telephone' and 'Umbrella'. I highly recommend them. Quite experimental writing, but it felt appropriate for a story based on such an experimental figure.
